4/9/13 Frack Mess News

I got this comment on a blog earlier this week and wanted to share it with you all .

Fish Creek Neighbor has left a new comment on your post "Crude oil contains BENZENE":

We live within two miles of a half dozen gas drill sites each containing multiple wells. Arlington, TX is located in North Texas on top of the Barnett Shale. Our residential community has its own drill site set back 600 feet from homes. Our city council seems to think these sites are wonderful amenities to the communities ~ particularly ones with frac ponds. We are noticing cases of bone marrow cancer, leukemia, and anemia in our immediate neighborhood. We have very serious concerns about the future of this area and the future of our children.

After reading the comment above , i decided to google search Arlington,TX,fracking to find a photo or video... there are many ... this blog caught my eye and broke my heart .

“The oil companies have made it clear that their priority is not safety, it’s profit margins,” Glen Hooks, a spokesman for Arkansas Sierra Club, said in a statement. “Why should we trust oil companies when they say their pipelines are safe when there have been spill after spill?”

Arkansas Spill: Another Red Flag Exposing the Dangers of the Keystone XL Pipeline
Let’s recap what happened in Arkansas and why it is such a timely reminder that tar sands expansion and tar sands pipelines hurt us. On March 29, Exxon’s Pegasus tar sands pipeline ruptured, flooding a suburban community outside of Little Rock, Arkansas with hundreds of thousands of gallons of tar sands crude. This toxic river of heavy tar sands bitumen and volatile petrochemical diluents is not a mix that anyone would want flowing in front of their houses.

Opposition Brewing to Injection Wells
“A resolution up for a vote next week by the Dare County commissioners and a position paper from a regional water resources group in Onslow County are the latest indications of the fast-growing coastal opposition to using coastal aquifers to eliminate wastewater from hydraulic fracking. The position paper by the Onslow Water Resources Group says lifting the ban on the use of injection wells for wastewater threatens coastal aquifers.” April 8, NC Coastal Federation

NC attorney general asked to probe possible fracking conflicts of interest in state government
“An environmental watchdog group opposed to fracking has called on the North Carolina attorney general to investigate apparent financial conflicts of interest and what it calls a "pattern of political patronage" involving state leaders responsible for overseeing the oil and gas industry. The complaint sent this week to Attorney General Roy Cooper, a Democrat, names Gov. Pat McCrory (R), members of the state Mining and Energy Commission, and members of the Republican-controlled General Assembly.” April 5, Institute of Southern Studies
